Welcome!Welcome to my 2008 campaign for one of the four seats on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners. I am running because we must plan for the future, to pursue healthy growth, successful schools and livable communities. As a parent of two children in our public schools, a technology small business owner, and a dedicated community volunteer for three decades, I offer my experience creating solutions to difficult problems to serve the people of Buncombe County. All citizens of Buncombe County, whether we live in an unincorporated area, or within the municipal limits of Woodfin, Weaverville, Montreat, Black Mountain, Biltmore Forest, or Asheville, will soon vote in the May 6 primary election for four seats on the Buncombe County Commission. Commissioner David Young is running for NC State Treasurer, www.davidyoung2008.org, and Commissioner David Gantt is running for Buncombe County Commission Chairman, www.ganttforbuncombe.org thus leaving empty two of the four seats on the commission. County government plays an important role in the success of our Buncombe County and Asheville City public schools and Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. Emergency preparedness, public health and safety, job training, and economic development are responsibilities of county agencies operating under the guidance of the County Commission and the County Manager. All residents of Buncombe County depend on the success and the efficiency of County government in providing these services, and being good stewards of our tax dollars. As citizens, our individual efforts to be good neighbors relieve pressure on the county's budget to provide services. A strong and healthy community includes neighbors helping neighbors, protecting our natural resources and beauty upon which we and our children depend for our well being, and planning for the future. I ask you for your support and your VOTE in early voting and on May 6 in the Democratic Primary. Please visit my website regularly for updates. |
